Thank to a solder wire feeding that we can control, up to 0.2mm, and insure high precision and repeatibility.
The laser diode (fiber coupling type) whose output is high ( 30w) is used.
The CCD camera camera incorporater on the vertical axis onto which laser is irradied shoots an image of the target point.
Lase can also insure a better soldering quality and fastness.
The section show the difference between iron tip soldering and laser soldering. we can note differences between the 2 technologies :
- Difference of the shape, which indicate that the there was too much heat on the pad. That could decrease fastness property of soldering.

Donut type lens for laser
This kind of shape for laser (patented) can use all the energy of the laser, by avoiding the center of the pad. the issue in laser soldering when the laser reaches the center of the pad, then the energy goes to the connector, generaly in dark colours. the connector may burn.
With the Donut lens, the laser does reach the pad, but not the connectors.

Steps on laser soldering
1- Laser come to heat the pad.
2- Solder Feeding which is spread around the pad, thanks to the energy provided by laser.
3- Solder is solidifying, the soldering process is over.

Laser allow to get a constant heat all around the pad. On the other hand, a conventional iron tip can heat only one side of the pad.
